ASSESSMENT AND PLANNING
All services in this section are designed to benchmark existing activity
and make recommendations for improving efficiency, cost and/or output.
IT Operations Review
Review current IT operations including all functions and activities performed
by IT staff and interfaces between IT and other internal departments and
outside organizations. Make recommendations regarding structure, efficiency
and activity including disaster recovery, data backup plan, security,
cost and IT best practices.
Business Process Analysis
Analyze existing business processes (manual or automated) and identify
opportunities for improvements to reduce cost or improve quality. Recommendations
may include software, hardware, database(s), process integration, realignment
or any combination of these.
Server and Network Evaluation
Evaluate the current configuration of all servers (file and print, mail,
firewall, Internet, database and application) and local and wide area
network (LAN and WAN) hardware, operating systems and other operational
software and firmware. This includes virtual private networks (VPN), Internet
access and providers, routers and modems. Also included are personal computers
and other networked equipment as they relate to IT best practices for
standardization and network access. Make recommendations regarding system
effectiveness, speed, reliability, recoverability, security, monitoring,
automation, cost and IT best practices.
DESIGN, CONFIGURATION AND INSTALLATION
All services in this section are created to design, install and configure
hardware and software to support BrownCOW Technology Assessment and Planning
services and customer generated requirements.
Network, Server and Internet Configuration
Design, install and configure local and wide area networks (LAN and WAN)
and Internet access with server(s) (file and print, mail, firewall, Internet,
database and application), router(s), cabling and power management including
specification, supplier selection and purchase negotiation. This includes
all activity required to install and configure hardware and software to
ensure IT best practices for security, disaster recovery, data backup
and automation are in place. Also included are personal computers and
other networked equipment as they relate to IT best practices for standardization
and network access.
Security and Virus Protection
Design and install specific solutions for network and data security and
virus protection for both servers and personal computers including email
applications. This activity includes Internet and remote (dial-up) access
along with IT best practices for disaster recovery and data backup.
Virtual Private Networking (VPN)
VPNs have become an increasingly attractive way to reduce wide-area networking
costs and improve access for remote workers, branch offices, business
partners and customers. Virtual Private Networks allow business to communicate
over the Internet's backbone using private tunneling protocols or allow
users to communicate from home over broad-band connections (e.g. ZoomTown,
Road Runner). Because VPNs use utilized the Internet instead of leased
lines and Frame Relay connections they provide an alternative solution
to WAN solutions. VPNs lower the risk of security breaches because the
data is encrypted by routers and operating software and decoded on the
receiving end. BrownCOW Technology can help you decide if a VPN solution
is the right solution for your firm.
Telecommunication Systems
Specify, install and configure telecommunication hardware and software
including automatic call distribution (ACD) systems. Select suppliers
and negotiate price as required. Provide ACD configuration and programming
for customized business solutions.
SERVICE CONTRACTS AND TRAINING
At BrownCOW Technology, support of our contract customers always takes
precedence. When you sign on with BrownCOW Technology, a relationship
will begin to develop as we gain a detailed understanding of your information
technology and it's impact on your business. This allows BrownCOW Technology
to effectively head off problems before they become a crisis and suggest
any enhancements that would benefit your business. BrownCOW Technology
also can meet your hardware and software support needs by acting as a
contact point between you and your vendor. Technical support can be confusing.
Call the problem into us and if we can't solve it or don't support it
we can act as an "translator" with your hardware/software vendor. This
gives you one point of contact for all of your needs.
Virtual Network Administrator
Let BrownCOW Technology be your virtual MIS department: Network Administration
without the need to have a full time network administrator. BrownCOW Technology
will assume maintenance for system software upgrades and patches, anti-virus
definition updates, tape backups and restores, basic or advanced administrative
functions and all network issues. BrownCOW Technology will also coordinate
warranty issues as they apply to hardware or software components. You'll
get a guaranteed regular site visit by one of our highly qualified consultants
to address any PC & network needs you might have on a regular basis. The
network administration can be scheduled weekly, monthly, or whatever your
firm prefers. Consultants perform routine checks such as disk space, server
status, backup status, troubleshoot PC and Network related issues, provide
service pack/security update notifications, and answer any staff questions.
Single Engagement Agreement
You call BrownCOW Technology with an issue and it will be resolved remotely
or an on-site visit will be scheduled by one of our consultants to resolve
your problem during regular business hours. After hours emergency support
is also available at an additional hourly fee. (After hours support is
included for our contract customers.) Establish an agreement for a single
engagement regardless of duration. This will include hourly rates and
delivery expectations. Pricing will be determined by number of hours and
technical requirements of engagement. This agreement is BrownCOW Technology's
most open-ended contract providing maximum flexibility for the customer.
Custom Contract
Create custom support contracts to meet unique customer requirements within
budget constraints. Designed to enable any company to thrive with viable,
dynamic IT in a worry free environment.
Training
Provide customer training to support all BrownCOW Technology activities
or existing hardware or software particularly network and server administration
including email, virus protection, data backups and Internet access. Train
customer staff to whatever degree is required: minimal personal computer
training for daily activities; minimal server and network training to
act as interface to BrownCOW Technology or other third party support group;
maximum training to provide complete server and network support; or any
combination of these.
